This book was published in two languages (French, English) in parallel with the homonymous periodical exhibition Les mots et les monnaies, de la Grèce ancienne à Byzance, which took place at the Fondation Martin Bodmer, Geneva, Cologny (November 2012 – March 2013), with the collaboration of the KIKPE foundation the Benaki Museum. The book has a tripartite structure: The comprehensive catalogue of the exhibits follows the fourteen units of the exhibition. The annex of the full-page colour plates renders lucidly a sample of the included objects doing justice to its quality. Finally, the volume offers also to the reader an introductory text (Proœmium) and ten essays that contribute various thematic perspectives to the concept and its realization.
